Jussi Pesonen is the CEO of UPM, one of the world’s leading forest industry companies with annual sales of EUR 10 bln and 20 000 employees in 13 countries.

Jussi Pesonen joined UPM in 1987 as a production engineer, advancing rapidly into leading management posts in various paper business areas including Vice President of the Newsprint Product Group and COO of the Paper Divisions. He has also served as deputy to the President and CEO in 2001-2004.

Jussi Pesonen is Chairman of the Board of Ilmarinen Mutual Pension Insurance Company and the Finnish Forest Industries Federation (FFIF). He also serves as co-Chairman of the Forest Solutions Group (FSG) in World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). In addition, Jussi Pesonen is the board member of the Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI) and East Office of Finnish Industries Oy.
